Fabric Requirements

Kits available similar to the store sample

Or

All Flannel fabrics:

2 yards Focus fabric (large panel area A) & checker back AA

5” of 21 Assorted coordinates or jelly roll (mostly medium and dark shades, sparingly used lights)

½ yard small panel area (B) & limited use for assorted print in blocks.

(Lisa used a cream background with med brown diamonds)

1 ½ yards outer border for front

1 ½ yards outer border for back

1 1/8 yards Checker back BB

1 1/8 yards Checker back CC

¾ yard Binding (Optional)

4 ¾ yards Flannel for batting instead of cotton batting, makes fluffy fringe                                                

Notions Needed
Sewing machine with walking foot
Pins & clips
Rotary cutter with ruler
Microtex sharp needles recommended 80/12 or 90/14
Rag snips
Best Press
One time use tint trap
Color catchers by Shout.
Thread for piecing 
King Tut for quilting (Lisa used #925)

Purchase pattern"Once Upon A Memory" book by Doug Leko, Antler Quilt Designs. The pattern we are using is also “Once Upon a Memory”; However, I converted it into a rag quilt and eliminated the inner border.

*Because of the Farmhouse Gatherings Flannel that I’m using, we changed the name of this quilt to Ba Ba Black Sheep Rag Quilt.

The back is a checker back using 3 fabrics and a back border.


Class Preparations

Cut Sheep focus fabric 4- 5 sheep squares x 5 sheep squares (15” x 15”)

From the 21-5” strips, Cut all into 2 ½” strips. Total of 42- 2 ½” strips

Select 16 and from each of these 2 ½ strips:

cut 1- 18 1/2” x 2 ½” total of 16, label C

Cut 1- 14.1/2” x 2 ½” total of 16, label D

Cut 1- 6 ½” x 2 ½” total of 16, label F

Select 12 more 2 ½” strips and from each:

Cut 1 -14 ½” x 2 ½” total of 12, add to D pile

Cut 4- 6 ½” x 2 ½” total of 48, add to F pile

Select 5 more 2 ½” strips and from each:

Cut 6- 6 ½” x 2 ½” total of 30, add to F pile. Grand total= 94 (F)

 

Remaining 9- 2 ½” strips, cut 2- 8 ½” x 2 ½”, for a total of 18, label (E)

 

Small panel area B- cream with brown diamonds

Cut 1 strip 2 ½” x WOF

Cut 2 strips at 6 ½”, sub cut into 16 – 6 ½” x 4 ½”

 

There will be more to cut, so for now this is what will need to be done for the first class.
